How to get real answers out of GeoPulse

Generative engine optimization rewards a different discipline than SEO. These are the practices we have found separate teams who act on the data from teams who only watch it.

01

Writing prompts worth tracking

  • Track the question a buyer actually asks, not the keyword you want to rank for. "Best treasury platform for mid-market CFOs" beats "treasury software".

  • Keep a mix: category questions, direct brand questions, and competitor comparisons. Each surfaces a different failure mode.

  • Avoid prompts that name only your brand. If the engine has no alternatives to weigh, the answer tells you nothing about your position.

  • Aim for 100–250 prompts. Below that, daily variance drowns the signal.

02

Reading the metrics

  • Visibility index is the share of tracked prompts where your brand appears at all. Treat it as reach.

  • Share of voice compares how much of the answer is yours against tracked competitors. Treat it as dominance.

  • Sentiment scores the language used about you, not whether you were mentioned. High visibility with low sentiment is the worst combination.

  • Rank is the position within the answer. Being third in a list of three is materially different from being first.

03

Acting on the data

  • Citations move first. If a domain starts citing you, visibility follows within a crawl or two — invest where the citations already are.

  • A sudden drop on one engine is usually a model update, not a content problem. Check the other four before reacting.

  • When sentiment falls, read the actual response snippet. The wording tells you which claim the model picked up.

  • Review the prompt set quarterly. The questions buyers ask change faster than your content does.

04

Fair use of the platform

  • Prompt credits are consumed per engine, per crawl. A 250-prompt set at daily frequency across five engines is 1,250 calls a day.

  • The prompt checker is rate limited to protect shared crawl capacity. Use scheduled crawling for bulk tracking.

  • Exported reports may be shared with clients under your own branding on Advanced and Enterprise plans.

  • Do not use GeoPulse to impersonate a competitor brand or to generate misleading comparative claims.
